wEDDING pACKAGE
Sigh… Deciding on which wedding package to take can be such a chore. So many things to consider, so many shops to visit, in short so many things to do!! What a headache, but come to think about it, it better to suffer a headache then a heartache (regretting that you sign on the package after placing a deposit)
Went to check out more bridal shops yesterday. We decided to hit the Bugis stretch of bridal shop, after the Tanjong Pagar outing bore no fruit. Sigh.. another long day. You might think that shopping of bridal packages is as simple as shopping for groceries. Step into a bridal, browse through that they have, if its not to your liking, step out, hit another shop and go through the whole process till you hit the jackpot. Well think again, if it only would be so simple, life would be much more pleasant. Once inside and shop, be prepared to face the constant bombardment from the relentless sales staff. They will harass, cajole, play up your ego, do anything in there book of tricks to try to make you sign on the dotted line. Do exercise caution as beneath the teflon laced words, lies many hidden cost. Well going into a shop is like entering a war zone, treading on thin ice, one wrong step or one moment you less down your guard; down you fall into the deep abyss. It's not my intention to paint such a bleak picture, there are instances where this is not true, but these are exception cases.
There we are standing outside a bridal shop browsing through the photo album they have on display. Then suddenly I heard someone calling my my name, to my surprise, it was my ex-classmate. It was 8 long years since we last met, what an uncanny place for a reunion. We immediately hit-off rekindling the old times. It turns out too that he too is out shopping for the same thing, and he is very pleased with that shop. He highly recommends it to me and we started the whole process again. Well this time, it was not too bad an experience, the staff wasn't too pushy and was honest. All hidden cost was laid out and the pricing was transparent. Looks like my it the bounty twice today, meeting up with an old friend and finding a bridal shop that is to our liking. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours in the shop. The shopping trip today was rather fruitful.
Well back we go to the drawing board decide on the bridal shops that we short listed 2 shops. One more pricey but offering more artistic value, the other is more economical but ordinary. After a lengthy discussion, my FW and I can’t get to a conclusion. We decided that the best approach would be to toss a coin, let fate decided which shop. The coin would be the outcome of the HDB balloting exercise. That’s another story for another time….
